Where do you enjoy summer the most?
For me, nothing beats a British summer (as much as I love to get away). The echo of the past rings through each afternoon with endless weekends spent in the park eating sausage roll filled picnics, or visiting the local coastline for a day at the beach to lounge in a deck chair with a Mr Whippy ice cream. I decided to spend this summer at home and planned only one trip abroad. Granted, being in London isn’t quite the same as being in Brighton but I’ve spent my evenings lying on Clapham Common and had several picnics with friends, or drinking Pimms at golden hour.
My wardrobe this summer has also been the much more refined with a focus on quality and investing in pieces which will last longer than one season. The selective process made minimising my wardrobe a lot easier and I’ve sized down considerably, but made room for the high-end clothing of my dreams. I’ve invested into a few accessories, including designer swimwear and a bag or two! The main investments in these pictures are the gorgeous Zimmermann floral top and the Loewe basket bag, both of which from my favourite department store - Selfridges.
Zimmermann is the brand of my fashion design graduate dreams. I’ve studied their clothing for years and always longed to own some stunning pieces from their collections and what better place to begin than with this floral printed top (although I could easily have brought it all if my bank balance allowed it..). I’ve got my eye on the Zimmermann bikini range too, but that’s for another note! The classic floral print is timeless teamed with the puff sleeves, which seem to be an ongoing summer trend. And let’s not forget that its 100% linen, which we all know is the main fabric choice of mine in the warmer months! The top does have matching shorts and several other styles in the same print so there is something to suit personal taste. I’m also lusting after some of the Zimmermann swimwear, because lets be honest, nothing beats a little designer swimwear to add to your collection. I’d definitely go for something white, floral or timeless!
I purchased the Loewe bag from Selfridges earlier in the season too, after swooning over it online for months. The size is perfect for traveling and carrying those everyday essentials but also fits a bottle of bubbles and some strawberries perfectly for an afternoon in the park. It was a risk and I was sceptical of spending £300 on a basket bag, but the leather details and stunning handmade basket mean that it has been the bag that I can’t put down.
