Is there anything better than going for a trip without really leaving the home comforts? As much as I love venturing out and exploring new countries, I’m a sucker for a little adventure on British soil.
I headed on a little trip last week to enjoy the seaside, get a few snaps and finally embrace the beachfront heaven that is Brighton. Most people know it for the pebble beach or vintage shopping in the lanes - but for me it’s the epitome of a British seaside town. It goes without saying that you probably want some of the top Instagram locations, and I don’t blame you. Brighton has so many different corners that any photographer could go crazy over.
And as I spent two days exploring the city, it only seemed right to share a mini city guide with my four favourite things to do - and the outfits that accompanied!
Vintage shopping in the Lanes.
As soon as we got out of the train station, my first point of call was the lanes - famed for their vintage stores, endless winding passages and great food spots. I actually love the antique shops and other little quirky corners. There’s plenty of retro shops with everything from vinyls, old magazines and cabinets. One even had a to a photo booth (which we all know I got into). There are so many independent shops to explore that you could be there all day.
For our little lanes wander, I decided to wear a loose-fitting jumpsuit and some classic birkenstocks. To be honest, jumpsuits are a dream for traveling because one item is a whole look and often pack really small into a rucksack or cabin suitcase. It was also really light and let me stay stylish without overheating.

I have always loved watching the sunset on Brighton pier since I was a child so it became the pre-dinner spot of choice. I put on my favourite white jeans, a classic pyjama style shirt and a pink pinstriped blazer. Basically - a candy floss human to soak up the last of the days warmth. Nothing beats a blazer for adding a touch of smart to an outfit especially if you’re planning to look a bit nicer for dinner.
The pier has a little restaurant named Victoria’s where the cocktails are worth trying, before heading back on to land for a meal. The seafront is pretty great for food choices but try to eat a couple of streets back so you aren’t sucked into the tourist trap of average food and higher prices.

Can you be at a British seaside and not enjoy fish and chips? Or at least a 99 cone?
No, no you can’t.
Brighton beach is world famous for a reason, and there really isn’t a view like it. Its one of my favourite places to sit peacefully and enjoy a bite to eat with the sound of the waves and smell of the sea. First thing in the morning, I popped on a bikini and simple white co-ord before walking along the pebbles. I think this co-ord will be packed for every trip moving forward because it’s so lightweight and perfect for throwing over a bikini or dressing up a little into the evenings.

Grab some donuts from the beginning of the pier, walk a few paces along and you’re in a retro arcade heaven. Taken back to the 90s with the sweet sugary goodness and bright colours everywhere. Brighton pier arcade is always where I go in the evening to act like a child. The games are so cheap, its so much fun and the dance mats are always free.
My outfit for the little game night was a striped co-ord set, perfect together or as separates. This is probably my favourite mix and match because the top works well with multiple bottoms, and the trousers are great with a vest or shirt. I’m not really one for colour but this set will see me through to Autumn too, so I couldn’t resist.
