Shoreditch on Film.
I take my Instax Mini everywhere with me and have a ridiculous amount of photo albums filled with mini film pictures from various trips, events and general things I don’t want to forget. On a recent trip to The Photographers Gallery, I found a disposable camera for only £6 and couldn’t resist picking it up for a bit of a retro session with friends. There is something so exciting about waiting a few days to see what you captured and its perfect for documenting a little day out in the hipster capital of London, Shoreditch.
The particular day in question happened to be a random frozen outburst from the Beast From The East 2.0. Unfortunately positioned between warmer days so we were all snuggled up in as many layers as possible to pretend it wasn’t arctic - but that kind of adds to the effect doesn’t it. Hayley, Adrian, Joe and I spent the day wandering between Brick Lane and Shoreditch, exploring back streets and stopping for a quick milkshake or three. I am slightly gutted there was only 26 shots in the roll and we didn’t capture some of the more hilarious moments. I guess memories are memories for a reason, right?!
We go to Shoreditch quite often so I made sure to visit Cocoa Sugars chocolate shop, a few vintage stores and of course Cereal Killer Cafe (although none of which we actually went into but we admired from outside). I don’t really know what to say as this is essentially a peek into pictures that I wouldn’t usually have shared but here you are. A peek into my private life.
The quality isn’t the best because I scanned the matte images into the computer but I love the retro vibes. It only seemed fitting to pop them up on the blog too, as essentially this is an extension of me and I couldn’t resist. All partially inspired, of course, by the incredible Lizzy from Shot On The Street who uses her 35mm film camera to document weekly updates and does a fab job of making film look incredible.
