The Check Blazer | Ways To Style

I wonder how many of you remember back in the day when I’d film ‘ways to style’ videos on a regular basis? When most of my videos were filmed in the garden with a tripod and signature few poses? Yep, those ones.

Wellllll, I’m bringing them back (but better) and kind of excited about the coming changes! I’ve been talking on my Instagram about ‘Copper 2.0’ and it’s starting this week on all platforms. Think more editorial, more interesting posts and the likes. There will be a post all about the changes coming up so keep your eyes peeled!

But that’s a story for another time, for right now let’s talk about the check blazer. A style that’s fronting the AW17 trends and one I can’t get enough of since my London Fashion Week post. The one shown in this post is from Find but I’ve linked a few of my high street favourites throughout the post so you’ve got a little choice! This one isn’t the typical Prince of Wales check but the ways that I’ve styled it is definitely one that works for all styles of check blazer..

What I’m Wearing (One)
Clear Glasses | ASOS
Bell Sleeved Black Dress | Zara
Camel Scarf | Primark
White Plimsoles | Gola*

Outfit number one is fresh from my transitional archives and a look I wore almost everyday for a while. (yes, thats right, I’m a serial outfit repeater and don’t care who knows it). I have had this Zara dress for a couple of years. Its just that one dress which goes with everything and works for all occasions. It seems to work well with a blazer for smart-casual days whether its teamed with heeled boots or flats. On this occasion, I decided on my Gola coasters because we were just having a walk around the city and taking pictures.

What I’m Wearing (Two)
Red Slogan Tee | Find via Amazon*
Black High Waisted Skinny Jeans | Jack Wills
Ring Detail Bag | Primark
White Plimsoles | Gola*

The second outfit does also feature the white plimsoles, I apologise. I did actually mix up the casuals by adding a slogan tee and some skinny jeans, though. Slogan everything is high on the AW17 trends list and it only seemed fitting to also add the colour red too (yep spamming with those trends). I’m a sucker for effortlessly cool outfits and when you’ve got one like this, its hard to go wrong.

Don’t you find a tee and jeans can look completely casual or completely the opposite? Its all in the styling options whether its layers or accessories and I definitely think this one could be office appropriate and the shoes could always be switched for boots or heels (depending on where you work.. I’m thinking more creative, less formal roles).

What I’m Wearing (Three)
Lace Insert Silk Cami | Missguided*
Velvet Skirt | Weekday*
Engage Suede Ankle Boots | ASOS

This look is more for drinks with the girls or a dinner date that isn’t too formal. I fell in love with the lace cami from Missguided for year-round styling and when its teamed with a little velvet, the textures just work so well together. This skirt is a staple of mine right now because I’ve finally found my perfect fitting skirts (and denim) in Weekday for reasonable prices. Its the first time I’ve been properly able to wear high waisted bits that don’t fall down or pinch too tight so you know I’m getting my moneys worth!

Check blazers with a mix of colours like this one always work well against a more plain outfit. I tend to keep safe with blacks, whites and plain colours but you could definitely mix it up with prints - I’m just a sucker for basics!

What I’m Wearing (Four)
Black High Neck Jumper | ASOS
Black High Waisted Skinny Jeans | Jack Wills
Suede Ankle Boots | Kurt Geiger via Shoeaholics*
Faux Fur Strap Bag | Topshop

Black jumper, black jeans, black boots and hellooooo bag of the moment! Topshop smashed it a little with this faux fur cylinder bag and I’m addicted to it. The colour and style just scream Autumn and for under £30 its a winner - also coming in black with red fur uhhhhh hiya. The blazer is almost like a ‘outerwear for the sake of style’ on this one as opposed to being for warmth.. but who said layering was to stop the cold!?

So there we have my top four ways to wear a check blazer for Autumn/Winter 2017. I’ve got so many of these kind of posts planned that I hope will be enjoyed. There is also a video version below if you’re more of a YouTube lover..
