I know its only the beginning of August but with the gloomy weather and slight chill in the air, its starting to feel more like Autumn.. one of my favourite times of year. With the changing season, my natural look is being replaced with a slightly more made-up one and the darker shades are starting to come out. I think the colder weather just makes doing make-up a bit more fun because its got less chance of sliding off your face!
This post is going to feature my four ‘must have’ lipstick shades for the transitional period - just to keep you ahead of the trends (ofc). If you’ve browsed any glossy magazines or even just social media recently, you’ll know that two of the big beauty trends for Autumn 2017 are berry tones and of course, the earthy neutrals. Both of which happen to be my absolute favourites for the season. I also predict that with red being such a huge trend at the moment - its probably going to be a lipstick staple too!
All of the shades that I’m talking about are from the Rimmel Matte Liquid Lipsticks collection and I just know they are going to be handbag essentials for the colder months. They have a smooth mousse texture which applies beautifully to lips and they’re super long lasting which makes for the perfect all-day product. I also needed to feature them so I could justify spending £17 on lip products when I’m supposed to be saving for an apartment deposit.. ha!
So the four shades that I’m predicting to be hot off the press are as follows..
The deep purple. The perfect shade for vamping up an outfit and perfect for days when your eye makeup is much more natural but you’d like a little something more. My berry tone of choice is ‘plum this way’ which is perfectly dark and cool.
The classic red. The absolute essential for pretty much every outfit. Red was a huge trend this Summer and its following through into the Autumn as well - so stock up your wardrobe with accessories and seep your trusty red lip in tow! My red of choice is the brown based ‘fire starter’.
The ‘English rose’ nude. A very subtle pink that gives lips a hint of colour without being too bold. I absolutely love this kind of shade for everyday wear. My nude of choice is ‘be my baby’ which is perfectly matching to my natural lip.
The darker nude. A very brown based tone to keep up with the nudes we loved all Summer, but with an Autumnal feel. I love darker nudes for everyday and its always a great addition to a bold eye look. My darker nude of choice is ‘Moca’.. brown based and warm toned.
There are hundreds of shades on the spectrum but if you’d like to see a full beauty trend report then let me know. I’m completely in love with creating beauty content right now so I’d be happy to oblige. I’ve become quite the addict when it comes to checking out trends recently soI’d love to know your thoughts on beauty trends for next season. I think that with the hype around the Urban Decay Heat palette, we’re going to see a lot of red and orange tones coming through!
If you’d like a more in-depth look at the shades, I’ve filmed a swatching review for my YouTube channel which will be live later this week!
All of these lipstick shades look so pretty! I’m tempted to get the purple one to mix it up from the usual nude shades that I wear! x
