How To Spend A Long Weekend in Barcelona.

Okay, I know that I travel a lot and rarely do actual guides to the places but this is all about to change. I’ve decided to stop giving you a bazillion outfit posts and start focusing on sharing my life with you. My beauty essentials, places I love, whats on my mind, etc etc etc. As we’re now fresh out of Barcelona content (for this trip at least), it seemed fitting to share exactly how I spent 72 hours in the beautiful city and a few tips I picked up!

Before I get into what we got up to, I need to tell you to download MyTaxi and CityMapper. MyTaxi is basically Uber and works in exactly the same way but its much cheaper than just waving a cab down on the street and CityMapper is great for navigating public transport whether you’re in Barcelona, London, Paris.. etc.

Day One - The Evening
We landed pretty late in the day so headed straight for dinner and drinks at Mercat Princesa. Its a quirky little indoor tapas market close to the Picasso museum with various foods from around the world and a bar (my favourite part.. hi sangria). We actually went here a couple of times and my first Barca outfit post was taken just outside! I recommend trying the Mexican tacos, they’re delicious.

Day Two - The Boat Trip
As we were in Barca for a family friends vow renewal, they had planned a few things to do all together and the boat trip was one of them. We had a few drinks at The Red Fish which is right in the Marina with beautiful views before we got on the 5 Star catamaran and had the whole front to ourselves with sun loungers and Moet. It was a really lovely trip and you spend around 3-4 hours at sea to watch the sunset - perfect with a glass of bubbles! I’d definitely recommend doing a trip but this one seemed to be more of a ‘we think we’re on yacht week’ group so if you want to relax then maybe try one of the other companies.

Day Three - Exploring the Cathedral and the Gothic Quarter
After drinking quite a bit on the boat, we headed to a quirky little cafe first thing in the morning to rehydrate (and caffeinate). We stumbled across a hidden gem called Petit Pot which was just outside of the Gothic Quarter - the menu was cheap, fresh fruit juices were amazing and in all, it was a great little spot!

This was our first lazy day to wander the streets so we decided to head to the Cathederal of Barcelona. Its a beautifully huge building with plenty to see but if you read my bad etiquette post then you’ll know to cover up when you go. They don’t allow you in with legs showing as a mark of respect.

After seeing this, we had another round of tapas at a little restaurant around the corner named Tapafina. The menu is pretty small and you can mix and match tapas to suit your taste. The tapas is really lovely but its quite expensive because its at the Cathedral. We also headed to the Gothic Quarter because I’d been told it was a ‘must see’ area and fell in love. I can’t tell you how much I want to move there because every street is beautiful.

Day Four - Gaudi’s Barcelona
Our final, full day was spent seeing Barcelona the Gaudi way. We didn’t actually get into any of the spots which I mentioned in my Barcelona vlog but the outside was just as beautiful. Our first spot was the Sagrada Familia which was probably my favourite building in the city. Its still being built to this day but the contrast between Gaudi’s original work and the new build is so unique. The park opposite is also gorgeous and where you usually see everyone getting the Instagram shot.

After this we made the long journey over to Parc Guell. I’d definitely advise getting the tube because its a straight train with a 5 minute walk and only cost us a couple of euro each. The Parc is gorgeous and you can wander around a lot without a ticket but if you want to hit up the famous mosaics then I’d advise to book online first. We just did it from the outside but even seeing it from here was gorgeous - I definitely want to go back and see it properly!

I’ll be honest, Barcelona stole my heart. Everything about the city is beautiful and each corner brings a little something new. I actually vlogged and filmed a lookbook while we were there which you can check out on my YouTube channel..
