Statement Sleeves: The Trend That Doesn’t Stop.

Can you remember a time before statement sleeves? When we didn’t all struggle to eat dinner in restaurants due to fear of our bell sleeves dipping into our food (seriously though)? The sleeves trend feels like its been around forever.. of course the styles and fabrics differ slightly but the general vibe is there and it seems like its here to stay.

We all know that statement sleeves are here to stay for a little while longer but when it comes to this time of year, I’m a sucker for light pieces that work for everyday (over a bikini and even layered up with a jacket for colder days) and this definitely fit the bill. So as the seasons have changed, my chunky bell sleeved knits have been switched for the lighter, more feminine pieces that will see me through until October (I hope). This particular sleeved must-have is from a high street favourite of mine, New Look with a shirred section that initially caught my eye and the soft frilled bardot neckline. It only costs £19.99 and considering it goes with half of my wardrobe, I’d say its quite a bargain!
In true ‘me’ style, its been teamed with some high waisted black skinnies for now and flip flops because despite it being quite warm in Cape Town, the evenings can be chilly. I like the ease of this outfit though - you can’t really go wrong with monochrome so anything to jazz it up a little is always welcome including statement sleeves.
