Travelling Update: One Month In & Where Next..

As cliché as it sounds, I can’t believe its already been a month since we left England. I didn’t really want to do an update so soon but as I had a few of these beautiful pictures to share and not much to write about them so it felt like a good time to have a chat about how its all going. Warning - its a long one with lots of information and waffling so make sure you have coffee!

Where We’ve Been..
So far we’ve actually been to three places in South Africa so far: Hekpoort, Durban and Mtati. Our first couple of weeks were purely spent seeing Adrians family as he’d been away for most of 2016. It was actually a great time to relax after weeks of stress with packing and moving - plus I’m a massive worrier so every aspect of going terrified me as much as I’d like to pretend otherwise (creature of comforts over here)

Adi’s family live in Hekpoort which is just outside of Johannesburg and as you saw from the weekly vlogs/previous posts, there were some pretty cool places to explore like the mountain sanctuary and farmers market. We spent the best part of three weeks hiding out and planning our road trip which to be honest, was just what I needed. I needed to just be away from social media and life for a bit, for my own sanity and to just unwind and realise that its okay not to be surgically glued to my phone.

Our next stop was supposed to be Mtati but we made a stop over in Durban which was around 5hrs drive. It was a really nice two days despite having a stomach bug and we spent a lot of our time on the beach or enjoying the free wifi to catch up on YouTube and life. Our accommodation was a cool hostel we found on Airbnb which ended up being under £35 a night and extremely nice - theres a blogpost of it coming next week so keep your eyes peeled for that (or check the room tour in the latest weekly vlog).

Anddd the latest stop was Mtati, a secluded little slice of heaven on the Sunshine Coast where Adrian’s family have a beach house. You’d probably think that being somewhere so peaceful and quiet would be when we relax, but its actually where we’ve been getting posts written, replying to a dozen emails and editing videos with our new software which has improved quality SO much. Its basically been a week of working from an office with a beach view. Its been heaven.

As you can probably tell, we’ve been quite lucky with accomodation and have only paid for two nights of the trip so far. To keep our costs down, we’re camping for a lot of the road trip in a little two man tent which I actually can’t wait for and then hitting up a few Airbnb apartments in Cape Town. I’ll update more on the next stops in another update post as I’m going to be blogging a lot more from now on. My two-week stomach bug has finally started to pass and I’m feeling motivated to share more of a beautiful country with you guys as I originally promised!

OH, Where We’re Going..
So exciting news, our next destination is Croatia! As you probably know, Adi and I met on MedSailors in Greece.. he’s going back to be a Skipper and I’m going with him as a Photographer but on their other route in Croatia. I loved my experiences as a guest and know some of you have booked to go to Croatia with MedSailors in the Summer so I can’t wait to be on the other side! That being said, I don’t officially start until June so I’ll be back in England for a fortnight at the end of May to see family and catch up with friends alongside a few collaborations and meetings. I can’t tell you how good it feels to finally know my plans for the Summer and to share them with you!

I hope you’re loving the more travel focused content? I know its quite a change from my usual outfit posts but hopefully you’re embracing the changes to Copper and loving it as much as I am.
