As the weather cools down my makeup choices quickly turn to darker shades and warmer tones, ditching the brighter pinks and more summer worthy colours. The Body Shop recently launched their Lip Liquid range which features a range of 12 seasonably appropriate shades that cost only £6 and they're currently part of a 3 for 2 offer (I own six, naturally).
The formula is perfect for the season with the high pigmentation and creamy texture which applies easily and looks matte on the lips without drying them out. I've worn the lip liquids on a number of occasions and they always last as long as necessary but naturally with the darker shades, a little more maintenance is needed.
Sicily Iris and Mauritius Dahlia are beautiful deep tones which happen to be the darkest of the collection and by far my favourite two. Mauritius Dahlia is a warm plum shade while Sicily Iris is a cooler brown tone. Like most darker tones of lip products, I always apply twice just to make sure they look rich and matte.
Alongside the seasonally appropriate darks, I also have a few shades that would be suitable for all seasons. Cali Gerbera is a coral tone which is much softer than orange but it looks great with a tan for summer or teamed with some darker wardrobe pieces. Paris Peony is a dark pink which is lighter than the others but its great for brightening up an outfit and the warm tone helps to make the winter tan look a little darker. Goa Magnolia is the last of the brighter tones and is quite a soft purple that I'd describe as the perfect autumn lip colour.
My only nude shade is Windsor Rose, the perfect natural lip tone so when the weather cools down it gives colour back to my lips. I actually find this to be the most pigmented shade which happens to be slightly thicker than the others and looks amazing on its own or with a light coat of clear lipgloss to shine it up a little.
If you are looking for a lip update for the season then I'd recommend trying out some of these Lip Liquids from The Body Shop. I'm a sucker for lipstick but sometimes a more liquid matte is just what you need to upgrade your look and try something new.
*The Body Shop kindly gifted me a couple of these lip liquids but I also purchased a couple myself and this post is not sponsored, all thoughts are my own.
