My wardrobe is full of oversized clothing whether its high waisted trousers, a shift dress or ‘two sizes too big’ t-shirts. This all started in university as I struggled with my weight and used clothes as a cover up. Now that I’m back to a size 6, its like a fun experiment to try on tighter clothes and enjoy the confidence I’ve gained.
Wacoal have recently launched Beyond Naked, a shapewear collection for everyday which is invisible under clothes and doesn’t restrict you in any way. They give you a smoother silhouette in tighter clothing which helps boost confidence and give you more outfit options!
For the last week I have been trying out various pieces from the Beyond Naked collection under my everyday outfits to see how much better it made me look and feel. At first, I assumed I’d need to live in tight dresses to really test the collection but throughout the week, I tried to mix up the styles and see how the shapewear could work differently..
Monday saw the bodycon midi dress, hugging every part of my figure and helped by the shapewear dress to firm up my stomach and bum - I got a lot of compliments about how it looked which boosted my confidence a lot. On Tuesday I thought I’d test out high waisted jeans, teaming them with a sheer top and the shapewear bodysuit. I like that it held in my stomach and looked just like a cami so my waist looked smaller.
Wednesday came around and I decided to go with something a little more stylish, bringing out the tight leather skirt that I’ve avoided for so long with the shapewear knickers for support. I felt so slim and confident in this outfit and it was probably my favourite of the week. By Thursday, I’d adopted a more relaxed vibe in some tailored trousers and wore the shapewear cami as a top. It looked really great with the trousers because of its slightly silky look and the padded bust meant I didn’t need a bra, so all ugly bra straps were avoided. And finally, Friday was the night out I’d been waiting for. The slinky, bodycon dress is always a challenge but I wore the shapewear dress underneath and it smoothed me over while making my bum look perkier as well as making the dress slightly less see-through!
I’d be lying if I said that the shapewear hasn’t become a staple part of my wardrobe with the pieces regularly being pulled out of my wardrobe - the silhouette smoothing gives me a little confidence boost while adding a layer of warmth for the colder months (bonus). Its worth buying a piece or two from the collection and testing them out because its the best shapewear I’ve tried, and boy I’ve tried a lot. There is no seams so you avoid awkward tell-tale shapewear signs and the fabric is so soft against your skin that its almost not there.
Do you wear shapewear, or would you consider it?
