I say no to everything, and I mean everything. Ask me out for dinner? I’ll probably not come. Press events where I don’t know anyone? Nope. To other people, I probably come across as the biggest hermit crab but in honesty, I’m afraid of socialising and altering peoples opinions of me. I’d much rather be a hermit crab than leave my comfort zone which is difficult considering I’m actually quite an outgoing person.
Fast forward to right now and this is in the process of changing. My outlook on life is nothing but positive (thank you Brogan for a long plane journey talking about enjoying life) and despite the odd moment of self-doubt, each day is a new chance to try harder towards my goals. I wake up in the morning and look forward to my day as well as replying to 90% of the emails in my inbox saying ‘yes’ rather than marking them unread and leaving them for another day.
I know it sounds like I’m going off topic considering this is an outfit post, but it fits better than you know. These images were from a recent shoot I did with Comb, something that I would normally have politely declined due to anxieties and leaving my comfort zone. I’m so pleased that I said yes because the pictures are beautiful and the guys were amazing! Hopefully in future, we will work together again to give you even more gorgeous content but for now, I’ll leave this outfit for you to enjoy and let you know my tips for ‘just saying yes’..
- SAY THE WORD -
Because saying the word is the first step, once you’ve committed to something its harder to opt out. Trust me on this one, don’t jump to rule anything out, just think about it first and reply with ‘yes’ before you let your mind wander to all of the over thinking.
- THINK OF THE POSITIVES -
Rather than looking at situations and considering everything that could go wrong, look at everything that could go well. Stronger bonds with friends, meeting new people, opportunities that could arise from the situation and so on. I’m sure the positives outweigh the negatives, right?
- NOT BACKING OUT -
I’m so guilty of this one, but keeping to your word is important, especially if its a ‘yes’ through your blog. If you keep declining invitations then soon enough, the brand/individual will stop asking and you’ve lost a potential good relationship.
- WHAT IM WEARING -
You might remember my shoot with Ark last month where I pretty much fell in love with the brand. This skirt is one of my favourites from the site in the ever-flattering aline shape that manages to slim my waist and elongate my legs, all at the same time.
Some might argue that tartan gets left behind at Christmas, but I’m going to be rocking it ’til the daffodils come out. Teaming the skirt with a classic cable knit to keep you cosy and some boots help to give the outfit a transitional appeal that will last you through to Spring.
