Early this month, Champneys challenged me to detox for a week by upping my skincare routine and eating healthier - with the added exercise that I chose to do myself. I couldn’t wait to begin the detox considering my lifestyle choices needed a kick in the backside to get moving and get started and I couldn’t wait to get using the beautiful new products. The biggest part of this detox was inside the Champneys ‘detox in a box’ - three products aimed at firming hips and thighs, a massager and a bottle of seaweed to add to smoothies or dishes alongside my healthy eating. The products all contain seaweed and natural marine sea salts which are proven to help tone, cleanse and stimulate the skin - perfect for the new years detoxing!
The box is so well presented (making a great gift for someone.. or yourself) and has information inside about all of the products and how to use them with their benefits noted to easily track any changes. Its essentially a spa in a box that has the promise of better skin without needing to leave the comfort of your home.

Within minutes of receiving the box, I jumped into the shower to try out the shower scrub and mud. I decided to use the massager with each of the products for an added ‘firm’ too. The massager was a new concept for me, used to stimulate fat cells and help the products work their magic to firm up the skin. Its quite difficult to get used to the movement at first because of the circular shape being slightly too big for my hand, but after a minute or so it got much easier and I was massaging away. Despite the products being aimed at hips and thighs, I thought I’d give my lower stomach a try too and see what happened as its my main problem area.
The shower scrub was easy to apply with tiny granules inside that lightly exfoliated with a lovely scent in true Champneys style. I’m a sucker for a good scrub due to my fake tan use and longing for smooth skin, so this is now a winner. For the mud, I’m certain that I used it wrong for the first shower because it didn’t want to stay. However, on the second use, I allowed my skin to air dry slightly and it seemed much thicker and more ‘there’, letting it set for about ten minutes while dancing round my bathroom to Biebs. The mud is definitely my favourite of the three products because of its thick consistency and in honesty, I was always the child growing up that liked mud so it wasn’t a surprise!
The final product inside the box is the body butter, used straight after my shower to tighten the effects of the other two products. The body butter isn’t too thick with a creamy consistency so its easy to smooth a little over a bigger area. I’ve used it a few times now over my entire body and barely made a dent so I’m sure its going to last for a while.
After trialling each product for a week, my skin is definitely feeling more firm and smooth. My lower stomach is also feeling much firmer despite it not being an intended focus area which I’m pleased with as it means my abs can show quicker and I’m more confident in wearing tighter clothing over my mid-section - its very rare you’d catch me in tight skirts before! I love the scent of the products and their invigorating, refreshing qualities. I’m looking forward to continuing to use them and purchasing more Champneys in the future, curious to see how this box continues to make a change.
For the seaweed and healthy eating detox, I think I did quite well! My diet is fairly good anyway but adding seaweed into green smoothies (spinach, avocado, etc) or even on salads and stir-fry. I have to admit, I’m not a fan of sushi or seaweed style dishes but it has so many health benefits and isn’t a very strong taste if you use it as a herb/garnish!

You can pick up the detox box for yourself in Boots for £30 to challenge yourself to detox for a week! I definitely feel much better with all of the healthy food and exercise, with my skin feeling smoother and firmer than before. I’d recommend trying seaweed in your diet too, its amazing inside vegetable smoothies and salads.
