In a world that is constantly switched on its hard to leave social media alone to enjoy yourself – especially when you want to instagram every second of your amazing holiday. As a blogger it can be tough to fully pull away from your phone and relax while still uploading regularly but I came up with a pretty good solution to that.
In a world that is constantly switched on its hard to leave social media alone to enjoy yourself – especially when you want to instagram every second of your amazing holiday. As a blogger it can be tough to fully pull away from your phone and relax while still uploading regularly but I came up with a pretty good solution to that.. mainly helped by the lack of wifi in the middle of the ocean. For this reason, I thought it was a good time to share some tips for a social media detox on holiday.. 1. Leave your phone behind. Going to the beach or for dinner? Leave your phone in the hotel room and take a book instead. If you really want a picture, someone else will be able to take it for you or use a camera. 2. Only use wifi once a day. Rather than rinsing your phone data, keep wifi time limited. While on holiday, most coffee shops or restaurants now have free wifi so its the perfect time to quickly check your emails, upload a picture and put your phone back into hiding. 3. Set an automatic reply on your emails. You don’t need to reply to emails instantly, just set an automatic reply to explain that you’re out of office and let the sender know when you’re returning. I did this on my previous holiday and it kept my inbox under control while being a polite way to inform people that you won’t be able to reply until a certain date. 4. Enjoy the culture. How are you supposed to enjoy the beauty of another country if you’re absorbed into the digital world you see every day? Take your eyes away from the screen and look around, you’ll be amazed by how much more you notice. Throughout my holiday, I still tweeted/uploaded pictures but chose to spend more time living in the moment which meant that any pictures taken automatically looked more natural and my smile is so genuine. There are also tons more stories to tell and my friendships were built or grew in strength. A stand out moment to me was quad biking around the entire island of Spetses. By having our phones locked in the back, we spent the whole time admiring the views and soaking up the beautiful landscapes of the island, something which we could never have captured in a picture. A social media detox is definitely recommended and trust me, you won’t regret it.
Denim shorts are a summer essential, gracing every wardrobe for the season and definitely my most worn holiday item. This year I wanted to mix up the classic denim and chose this pair, falling in love with the stripes and easy styling options. To save you browsing the internet for some new denim, I’ve put together a little wishlist with some of my favourite styles this season. How cute are the white embroidered shorts!?
