THE KINGS HEAD HOTEL, WIMBORNE

If you follow my instagram or snapchat (jessicasheppard), you're one step ahead in knowing that last weekend marked the ending of my uni life and a short break to Dorset as a birthday celebration for Josh's Dad and brother. It was like heaven to take a break from life and social media for a while to enjoy the freedom of never having to do uni work again - finally relaxing after three years of hard work.

Josh chose the hotel for this trip and decided on The Kings Head, a 200 year old building with modern charm. Our bedroom was a standard double as the superior rooms were fully booked and cost £90 for the one night stay which I think is a good price when we'd normally spend a lot more. The room was at the top of the hotel on the second floor with high ceilings and two large windows overlooking the town, making the wake up even easier with the fresh air and sunlight. It was decorated in mostly purple with a couple of paintings and simple decor, something I prefer as a minimalist and I liked all of the modern touches. The bed was very comfortable giving both of us a very good nights sleep, facing the television which Josh enjoyed for football updates.

We actually ate dinner and breakfast in the downstairs restaurant which was decorated similarly. I fell in love with the chandelier and beautiful decor throughout (as a true pinterest addict would). The restaurant was part of the Greene King chain, so we were used to the menu and I knew my choices immediately - opting for an antipasti board and fajitas while Josh had steak, delicious choices which we both enjoyed.

I'd definitely stay here again and recommend the hotel if you're looking for a quiet village to take a break and escape reality. And in typical blogger to notice, the wifi was better than anywhere else I've stayed despite my phone signal being non-existant. #perks
